Can CFL bulbs be used with dimmers?
A: No. The majority of CFL bulbs sold today are not dimmable. A CFL bulb that cannot be used on a dimmer will have the statement “not for use with dimmers” or “do not use with dimmers” marked directly on the bulb. Recently, dimmers have been introduced designed specifically for CFL (and LED) bulbs.
Is my dimmer LED compatible?
Check Your Existing Dimmer The type of dimmer switch and it’s minimum/maximum load range will indicate the compatibility with LED light bulbs. Trailing edge dimmers work best with LED light bulbs and leading-edge dimmers work best with traditional incandescent and halogen light bulbs.

Yes, you heard it right, one should never use normal light bulbs with dimmer switches because if you do so, the light will not perform well, it may appear fine in the beginning, but with time you will start noticing the difference in the intensity of the light.
Do you need a special dimmer switch for LED?
Use an LED Dimmer switch A standard dimmer switch cannot be used with an LED light as you will never be able to dim the LED light either completely or not very well. LED lights need their own special electronic dimmer switch to have a fully functioning and dimming light.
What is the difference between Lutron Maestro and Diva?
The differences are really in user interface and aesthetics. The Diva will have a toggle button for on and off, and the Maestro has a push button. The Diva has a slider for dimming, and the Maestro uses a push button rocker for dimming.
Why are my LED lights flickering on a dimmer switch?
LED bulb flickering can be traced in almost every instance to a non-compatible dimmer switch in the lighting circuit. LED bulbs don’t have glowing filaments. When the dimmer switch goes off and on many times per second, the LED bulb becomes a flickering strobe light.

Are there any CFL dimmers that are safe to use?
Lutron C•L dimmers have been evaluated by UL and meet applicable safety standards. Lutron has performed extensive testing on many LED and CFL lamps. Due to the large variation in lamp design and construction, some lamps will not meet all customers’ performance expectations.
