What is the purpose of ISO 9000?
ISO 9000 is a set of internationally recognized standards for quality assurance and management. ISO 9000 lays out best practices, guidelines, and a standard vocabulary for quality management systems. ISO 9001 is the only certifiable portion of these standards, with updates published in the year 2015.
What is the difference between ISO 9000 and QS-9000?

Is it required to use SPC charts in QS-9000?
Nowhere in QS-9000 is a requirements to use SPC charts. What is required is that a company review the need for statistical techniques during the APQP process (4.20). I think there is an ever declining view that SPC and statistics are synonimous, they are not. SPC is a specific set of techniques, statistics cover a much larger scale.
When did the QS-9000 agreement take place?
Agreement was reached in 1996 to revise the current manuals to provide reciprocal recognition for internal audit (QS- 9000 element 4.17) and subcontractor development (QS-9000 clause 4.6.2.1).
