It is important to note that you must be at least 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma or GED to be eligible to take this exam. The exam is computer-based, and offered in Spanish and English. It is 2 hours long and consists of 125 multiple choice questions.

You must earn a scaled score of 70% to pass the American Board of Opticianry (NOCE). The National Contact Lens Examiners (CLRE) requires a passing score of 72%. Scaled scores are not the number of questions answered correctly (raw score) and they are not the percentage of questions answered correctly.
