What is micarta knife handles made out of?

When Micarta is fresh off the mill or sandpaper it’s very light in color. Over time using the knife the light Micarta scales will darken up considerably. You can speed this process up by wiping them in mineral oil, baby oil or my favorite beard oil. Upon request i can oil them for you.
