A 55% pass rate is a hard exam, the hardest among the FE exams. The FE Chemical exam has the highest pass rate at 72%, and a 28% failure rate is something we consider very demanding.
How many hours should you study for the FE?
If you have been out of school for over 5 years, you should start studying 6 months in advance, but if you are currently in school or you’ve recently graduated, then you may only need to put in 4 months to get a passing grade. Each week, plan on committing at least 10 to 15 hours on studying for the FE exam.

Is the FE exam curved?
This is why the NCEES provides a scaled score report, so while exam difficulty is generally about the same for everyone, they do vary some, and the scaling is necessary for comparison purposes. Passing scores are established by the NCEES and are not curved relative to other examinees’ performances.
Is the FE exam pass fail?
